Born as a library, grown into a book lover’s haven
Long before Shree Book Centre became the name it is today, it began as Shree Book Store & Circulating Library in Matunga West, Mumbai.
For many readers in the neighbourhood, it was more than a place to borrow books. It was a familiar stop. A place to discover stories, follow favourite authors, and stay connected to the habit of reading.
Many of those early readers were members of the library. Some came for leisure reading. Some came to find something new. Some simply came because books were part of their routine.
That love for books became the foundation of everything that followed.
In 1985, the business was incorporated as Shree Book Centre. From there, it grew into a bookstore, publisher, importer and distributor, while staying true to the same idea it began with:
