Emma

Convinced of her own good judgement, Emma Woodhouse takes it upon herself to arrange the romantic lives of those around her, certain she knows best. Her matchmaking in a quiet corner of Regency England leads to one misunderstanding after another, as well-meant schemes unravel in ways she never anticipated. Beneath the comedy, Jane Austen's sharp eye for class and social manners gives the story its lasting bite, following Emma toward a growing, sometimes uncomfortable self-awareness. A witty, keenly observed classic about love, folly and seeing ourselves clearly.
