Indian Folktales Retold

Who was Hiramantota, the king's most trusted parrot, betrayed by his own master? Which prince married a monkey? And which queen turned out to be a rakshasa in disguise? Ruskin Bond gathers these and other forgotten Indian folktales into one collection, peopled with generous kings, scheming cranes, wise parrots and a talking white elephant. Told with his trademark wit, the stories return again and again to the old, familiar comfort of folktales - that the wise and the good eventually win.
