The Great Gatsby

Jay Gatsby has built a fortune and a mansion on Long Island, but both exist for one purpose: to win back Daisy Buchanan, the woman he lost years before. Fitzgerald sets their story against the glittering parties of the Roaring Twenties, using Gatsby's pursuit to examine the emptiness beneath so much privilege and excess. A cautionary tale about wealth in capitalist America, told through one man's refusal to let go of the past.
