The Legend of Sleepy Hollow and Other Stories

Superstitious schoolmaster Ichabod Crane wants Katrina's hand in marriage, but finds a rival in Brom Bones Van Brunt. Spurned by Katrina, he rides home through the autumn dark - and meets a headless horseman on the road. The title story here is one of the great American ghost stories, and this collection places it alongside other sensational Washington Irving fiction, including the equally enduring "Rip Van Winkle." Together, they make a strong case for Irving as one of the finest American storytellers.
