Gothic Fantasy Black Sci-Fi Short Stories

Dystopia, apocalypse, gene-splicing, cloning and colonization run through this gathering of speculative and science fiction. New voices sit alongside an older tradition of proto-sci-fi and speculative writing from W.E.B. Du Bois, Martin R. Delany, Sutton E. Griggs, Pauline Hopkins and Edward Johnson - writers whose first-hand experience of slavery and denial shaped the living dystopias they imagined. Beautifully presented, this collection traces the roots of science fiction back to voices too often left out of the genre's history.
