Khoka Babu`s Return

Raicharan loves his master's young son, Khoka Babu, with his whole heart - until a terrible accident takes the boy away. Grief-stricken, Raicharan returns to his village, where his wife soon gives birth to a son of their own. As the boy grows, Raicharan begins to believe he is not just his son, but Khoka Babu, returned to him at last. This is one of eighteen hand-picked stories in the collection, originally written in Bengali by Rabindranath Tagore and carefully retold in English. Together they move through love, sadness, happiness and longing, offering along the way a glimpse into the social classes, customs and beliefs of an earlier India.
