The Real Artist

Although he came from a wealthy family, Rabindranath Tagore never cared much for money — he believed the real treasures were art, stories and education. That idea sits at the heart of the story of Satyavati and her young son Chunilal, who find pure joy in creating works of art that others dismiss as strange and pointless, only to discover that creativity and passion matter more than any chase for wealth. This collection gathers 18 hand-picked stories by the master storyteller, carefully retold in English from the original Bengali, moving between love, sadness, happiness and longing while offering glimpses of the social classes, customs and beliefs of an earlier India.
